DK UMA is a manager tool for the UMA content.

DK UMA does not replace UMA, it ease the usage of UMA to be able to prepare your game in a faster way,


 

Preparing a scene for UMA and DK UMA  :

​

Open the DK UMA Editor, it detects if the scene is ready to use UMA or not. If not, it will offer to prepare the scene clicking on 2 buttons.

A scene can olso be prepared by drag and drop an DK UMA avatar into it, the avatar prepares the scene by itself.


 

What is a DK UMA Avatar :

​

A DK UMA avatar is not just a recipe, it is an RPG recipe, similar to a RPG character using an inventory, pushing this concept to the body parts and face parts with additional parts such as the tail or the wings. Each element goes to its place.

This DK UMA avatar generates the final UMA recipe depending the elements assigned to it, then it send the UMA recipe to the UMA/DCS avatar. The resulting UMA/DCS avatar is a child of the DK UMA avatar.


 

UMA and DCS compatible :

​

You can use the DCS avatars or / and the simple UMA avatars in a same scene.

You can generate DCS avatar enabling the usage of the advanced UMA DCS features such as the PhysicsHD, cloth physics, ragdoll and MeshHide features.


 

Generating avatars in the Unity Editor mode  :

​

Use the Create tab of the DK UMA Editor to create a single or multiple avatars, juste clicking on buttons to customize the generation.

It provide an avatar preview of the ingame result in the Unity Editor mode, enabling the user to modify its shape and elements using simple menus all accessible from the inspector window of the avatar.


 

Prefab of the avatars :

You can create a prefab of the avatar directly by drag and drop it from hierarchy window to your project window.

Instantiating prefab is also simple as drag and drop from the project window into the scene view or the hierarchy window.

By code it is simple as instantiating any other gameobject.

Also, in the case that your scene is not ready for UMA and DK UMA, the avatar prepares the scene by itself.


 

Create player's Avatar ingame :

 

Add the Ingame creator scene to your project and your players will be able to create and customized their avatars. Modify any DNA aspect, the hair models, the overlays and the mesh of the body and choose the various colors to make a unique avatar.

It is also possible to save the avatar and to reload it in a new game run.

Modify a DK UMA Avatar in the Unity Editor :

​

The DK UMA Premium pack contains tools to easily modify the shape an the Elements of an avatar in the Unity Editor.

The Shape Wizard controls each DNA value or even generate the shape randomly using some presets about the fatness or the strenght of the avatar, you choose, it generate the DNA.

The Elements Wizard controles the Slots and the associated overlay. Using a window similar to an inventory window, select the bydy part or the equipment place you want to modify, the available elements for this part are listed for you to choose the one to use, its overlay and the color preset to apply to the overlay.

DK UMA Items Editor :

 

DK UMA Premium provides an Item system, it is composed by an Items manager list the DK UMA Items present in your project and to create new items.

Using the Item Inspector, you are able to set it for both or each gender, select one of the 19 equipment places available on a DK UMA avatar, choose the Layer to apply the Item (most of the equipment places have 3 layers), Select the Slot, Overlay and Colorpreset.

This Item system also provides a preview scene to view the items on male and female avatar at the same time and to generate icons for the items.

It is easy to use and to implement to any inventory system with one command to equip and one command to remove the items.

It is also possible to directly import the UMA elements using the Item Inspector, saving a lot of time.

What are the DK UMA Elements :

​

They are blueprints of the UMA Slots, Overlays and Races Elements. They contains all the DK UMA properties to manage the Element and the rules to control its interaction with the other elements uses by the avatar.

​

What is a DK UMA Slot:​

​

it contains a link to the UMA Slot and all the options to use it with the DK UMA engine. Here are some features offered by a DK UMA Slot.

Using the DK UMA Editor, select the gender and the races able to use the slot. The slot will be listed into the DK UMA Race and will only be usable by its gender at the selected place.

​

Select the place over 39 various places covering from the avatar's face to the equiplments.

Each equipment place can hide various other elements using other places, as an exemple a dress placed on the 'TorsoWear' can hide the pants placed on the 'LegsWear'. Or a helmet can hide the hair and the ears, even the beard, you can select what to hide.

​

Assign the corresponding DK Overlay or multiple ones. Select the colorpresets for its Overlays, it is usefull for random colors.

Select its weight, it is used for generating NPC avatars or Crowds using the DK UMA Editor 'Create' tab.

​

A DK Slot element can generate other elements by itself as legacy elements. As a example, a teeshirt can remove the torso mesh and generate the arms to replace the missing arms from the torso mesh. or as an advanced example, a plate torso armor can generate the belt and the shoulders, you can also make variations of a same element by assigning different legacy slots to multiple copies of a same base element (the Elder Slot).

A DK Slot also contains a list of the MeshHideAssets to use in combination with other slots to hide some geometry. Create new MeshHideAssets or select existing ones, Edit them easily using this submenu.

One other usefull feature is the assignation of a specific Physics asset. You can let DK UMA assign the default one or specify one for this Slot.
